Human Rights and Democracy Consortium includes more than 80 highly qualified consultants, specialised in human rights and democracy. The Consortium is lead by Indevelop in cooperation with Global Reporting, Human Rights Team and Tana Copenhagen.

The consortium members have extensive experience withs development context assignments, specifically capacity development, monitoring and evaluations and institutional development. The team includes world-leading experts in several fields.

Key competences include, but are not limited to:

  • Public financial management reform, focusing on transparent systems on national and local levels.
  • Policy advice from implementing public administration reform programs.
  • Local democracy, political institutions and political participation.
  • Rule of Law area (access to justice, legal awareness and assistance, mechanisms for conflict resolution and how to enforce decisions).
  • Human Rights Based Approach in development cooperation and programming of governments, donors and civil society (accountability, transparency, non-discrimination, and participation).
  • Communication with a focus on dialogue, advocacy, freedom of expression and cultural diversity.
  • Non discrimination and the rights of children/youth, women, LGBT persons, and persons with disabilities.

The consortium is endowed with established global, regional and national networks that provide first hand access to experts, contacts and contextual knowledge in all regions and countries where Sida works.

With our combination of specialists we can put together teams that cover a wide variety of services related to democracy and human rights. Our way of working is flexible and fully adaptable to the needs of Sida and Swedish Embassies.

HUMAN RIGHTS TEAM (HRT) consists of two consultancy firms – MSC and NIDS - and their network of associated consultants. HRT offers practical support, capacity building, policy advice, analyses and method development in relation to the Human Rights Based Approach. MSC is primarily specialised in accountability and transparency (especially civil society monitoring of government policies and budgets), children’s/youth rights, and peace and security. NIDS primary focus is on non-discrimination, participation, rights of persons with disabilities and LGBT persons, and assisting human rights organisations to become more effective.

TANA COPENHAGEN is a Danish consultancy company, specialised in providing advisory services within good governance, civil society, fragile states and aid effectiveness. Our professional experience spans from human rights and democracy to public administrative reform and decentralisation. Our expertise includes work with political institutions and political participation, human rights including the rights of marginalised groups and design of support to civil society organisations. Within public administration, we specialise in decentralisation, public sector reform and public financial management. Our consultancy services pertain to the project cycle management of development assistance programmes notably identification, formulation, appraisal, review and evaluation.
